How to get from Paros to Sifnos

Paros and Sifnos are on different Cyclades ferry lines, so direct boats are limited to some summer days (about 1 h 30–3 h). Otherwise you connect via Piraeus, Syros or another island, which can take most of a day. Check current timetables early.

Best option: Ferry. The islands have no air link between them, so the ferry, direct or via another port, is the only way.

Tips

Common questions

Is there a direct ferry from Paros to Sifnos?

Only on some summer days. Paros is on the central Cyclades line and Sifnos on the western one, so direct crossings are not daily. When they run, they take about 1 hour 30 minutes to 3 hours. Otherwise you change at Piraeus, Syros or another island. Check current timetables well ahead.

How long does it take with a change?

Anywhere from about 5 to 10 hours, depending on the connection. Going via Piraeus means two separate ferry legs and a wait in port. Sometimes the best option involves an overnight stop. This is why many travellers plan their island order to avoid this particular jump.

Can I fly between Paros and Sifnos?

No. Sifnos has no airport. Paros has flights to Athens, but flying to Athens and taking a ferry from Piraeus to Sifnos would take longer and cost more than a ferry connection. Boats, direct or with a change, are the only realistic way between the two islands.

Do I need to book ahead?

Yes, if you find a direct summer boat, book as early as you can, since there are few of them. For connections via Piraeus, book both legs and leave a good margin between them. In winter, direct boats generally do not run, so plan via Piraeus.
