Common questions
How long is the ferry from Milos to Sifnos?
About 1 hour on fast boats and 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours on conventional ferries. Some services call at Kimolos first. In summer there are several departures a day; in winter the number drops considerably. Always check current timetables before planning your onward travel.
Can I do it as a day trip?
In summer yes, if a morning boat out and an evening boat back fit. You would have several hours to visit Apollonia, Kastro and a beach. Taxis and buses on Sifnos are limited, so plan your moves around the island in advance. Outside summer, staying overnight is easier.
What is the cheapest option?
Conventional ferries are usually the cheapest, often around €20–30 per person. Fast catamarans cost more but save time. Prices change by season and operator, so compare on a ferry booking site. Island residents and students may have discounted fares on some companies.
Do I need to book ahead?
In peak season, booking a few days ahead is sensible, and essential if you are taking a car. Outside July and August you can usually buy tickets on the day at agencies in Adamas. Wind occasionally affects fast boats, so keep a buffer if you have a flight to catch.
