Common questions
How long is the ferry from Milos to Serifos?
About 1 h 30–2 h 30, depending on the boat and whether it calls at Sifnos or Kimolos on the way. High-speed boats are faster but cost more. Several companies serve the Western Cyclades line, so compare times on a ferry booking site.
Can I fly from Milos to Serifos?
No. Serifos has no airport, and Milos has flights only to Athens. Flying via Athens would take most of a day and still leave you needing a ferry to reach Serifos. The direct ferry is the only practical way between the two islands, and at about two hours the crossing is short.
Can I do Serifos as a day trip from Milos?
In summer it is possible if there is an early boat out and a late one back, giving you a few hours in Livadi and Chora. Timetables change by day, so check before you plan. A night on Serifos is much more relaxed.
Do I need to book ahead?
In July and August, yes, a few days ahead, particularly for cars and high-speed boats. At other times you can often buy at the port. In winter, sailings are few and weather can cancel them, so check the timetable well in advance.
