How to get from Merida to Playa del Carmen
The easiest way from Mérida to Playa del Carmen is an ADO bus, about 4 h 30 to 5 h. Driving on the 180D toll highway towards Cancún and then south on Highway 307 takes about 4 h to 4 h 30. The Tren Maya also links the two, with infrequent services from Mérida's Teya station.
Best option: Bus. ADO buses are frequent, comfortable and run from central Mérida to central Playa del Carmen.
