Tips

Common questions

Can I do Ronda as a day trip from Málaga?

Yes. By car it is about 1 h 30 each way, leaving plenty of time for the Puente Nuevo, the old town and the bullring. By bus it is also possible, but check the morning and evening departures in advance because services are limited. Many visitors find staying one night worthwhile to see Ronda quieter in the evening.

Is there a direct train from Málaga to Ronda?

Direct trains are few; most Renfe journeys from Málaga María Zambrano to Ronda involve a change at Antequera-Santa Ana or Bobadilla. The total time is about 2 hours. Because there are only a few trains a day, check the Renfe timetable before planning. Buses are generally more frequent than trains on this route.

What is the cheapest way from Málaga to Ronda?

The regional bus is usually the cheapest, at about €10–15 one way, departing from Málaga's main bus station. Trains cost somewhat more. Renting a car can be good value for two or more people, especially if you combine Ronda with other white villages such as Setenil de las Bodegas.

Is the drive from Málaga to Ronda difficult?

The inland route on the A-357 is straightforward. The alternative mountain road A-397 from San Pedro de Alcántara on the coast has many bends but is well surfaced. Drive carefully in rain or fog. In Ronda, use one of the public car parks rather than driving into the narrow streets of the old town.
