How to get from Las Vegas to Sedona
Las Vegas to Sedona is about 440 km, roughly 4 h 30 by car via Kingman and Flagstaff or via the I-17. There is no train, and no practical direct bus or flight, so most travellers drive or join a tour.
Best option: Car. Driving is the only practical way and lets you stop at the Hoover Dam area, Route 66 or the Grand Canyon on the way.

Tips
- Arizona does not observe daylight saving time, so in summer it has the same clock time as Las Vegas and in winter it is one hour ahead.
- Buy a Red Rock Pass if you park at many trailheads around Sedona; some sites have their own fees.
- Carry water and fill up in Kingman or Flagstaff; distances between towns are long.
- Book Sedona accommodation early for spring and autumn weekends.

Is there a bus or train from Las Vegas to Sedona?
There is no train to Sedona and no practical direct bus. Without a car, the usual option is to fly to Phoenix and take a scheduled shuttle to Sedona, about 2 hours, or join an organised tour from Las Vegas. Renting a car is simpler and usually cheaper.
Is Arizona in a different time zone from Las Vegas?
Arizona uses Mountain Standard Time all year and does not change clocks. Nevada uses Pacific Time with daylight saving. In summer the two show the same time; in winter Arizona is one hour ahead. Note that the Navajo Nation, which you do not cross on the main route, does observe daylight saving.
Can I visit the Grand Canyon on the way from Las Vegas to Sedona?
Yes. From Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon South Rim is about 1 h 30 north. Many travellers drive Las Vegas–Grand Canyon on day one and Grand Canyon–Sedona on day two, about 2 hours via Flagstaff. Allow at least a full day for the canyon and pay the national park entry fee.
