How to get from Ioannina to Parga
Driving is the best way from Ioannina to Parga, about 1 h 30 for roughly 110–120 km via the Egnatia Odos towards Igoumenitsa and the coast road south. Public transport is limited: KTEL buses usually need a change, often in Igoumenitsa or Preveza.
Best option: Car. A car is quicker and avoids the limited and indirect bus connections.

Common questions
Is there a direct bus?
Direct buses are few or none, depending on the season. Most bus trips need a change in Igoumenitsa or Preveza, taking about 2 h 30 to 4 hours. Check current timetables with the KTEL companies, as summer schedules differ from winter.
How long is the drive?
About 1 h 30 for roughly 110 to 120 km. The quickest route goes west on the Egnatia Odos and then south along the coast. An alternative inland route passes the Acheron river springs at Glyki. Expect slower traffic on the coast road in July and August.
Can I do it as a day trip?
Yes. With about 1 h 30 each way by car, you can spend a full day in Parga, visit the castle and the beaches, and return to Ioannina in the evening. Boats from Parga also run to Paxos in summer if you want to extend the day.
Where can I park in Parga?
Parga's centre is small and steep. In summer, use the paid car parks at the edge of town and walk down. Parking is easier at Valtos beach, which is a short walk or boat ride from the centre. Arrive before 10 a.m. in August.
