How to get from Ioannina to Meteora
Ioannina to Meteora (Kalambaka) is about 120 km on the Egnatia Odos motorway, roughly 1 h 30 by car. A few KTEL buses a day on the Ioannina–Trikala route stop at Kalambaka, taking about 2 h; there is no railway between them.
Best option: Car. The Egnatia Odos motorway makes the drive fast, and a car lets you visit the monasteries, which are spread over several kilometres of road.

Is there a train from Ioannina to Meteora?

Can I visit Meteora as a day trip from Ioannina?
Yes, especially by car. Leave Ioannina early, spend the day visiting three or four monasteries and the viewpoints, and drive back in the evening. By bus it is possible but tight, as there are only a few departures a day. Staying a night in Kalambaka lets you see the rocks at sunset and sunrise.
