How to get from Hydra to Spetses
Hydra and Spetses are linked by high-speed boats on the Piraeus–Saronic line, taking about 30 to 45 minutes, several times a day in summer and less often in winter. Water taxis are a faster but expensive alternative.
Best option: Ferry. The scheduled high-speed boats are quick and cheap, and Hydra has no cars or airport, so the sea is the only way.

Common questions
How long is the ferry from Hydra to Spetses?
About 30 to 45 minutes on a high-speed boat, depending on whether it stops at Ermioni or Porto Heli on the way. Several boats a day run in summer and fewer in winter. Check the current timetable and book on summer weekends, as these boats also carry many passengers from Piraeus.
Can I do Spetses as a day trip from Hydra?
Yes, in summer. A morning boat gets you to Spetses in under an hour, and an evening boat brings you back to Hydra. Check both directions on the day you travel, as winter timetables may not allow a return. A water taxi is a pricier option for a flexible return.
Is there a car ferry between Hydra and Spetses?
No. Hydra is car-free, so there is no car ferry. Travellers with a car can drive on the Peloponnese to Kosta, opposite Spetses, and cross on a short boat or water taxi. Cars are restricted on Spetses itself, so most visitors leave them on the mainland.
How much is a water taxi from Hydra to Spetses?
Roughly €200 to €350 per boat, depending on the season, number of passengers and time of day. Prices are per boat, not per person, so it can be reasonable for a group. Book through the water taxi stand at Hydra port and agree the price before departure.
