How to get from Capri to Naples
Capri is an island, so the only way to Naples is by sea. Fast ferries (hydrofoils) from Marina Grande reach Naples Molo Beverello in about 50 minutes for about €22–28; slower ferries take about 1 h 20 and cost less.
Best option: Ferry. Fast ferries run many times a day, take under an hour and arrive at Molo Beverello in central Naples.

Tips
- Buy return tickets with the same company, as tickets are not interchangeable between operators.
- Last ferries back can leave in the early evening outside summer; check before you set off.
- Molo Beverello is a short walk from Piazza del Municipio and the Municipio metro station.
- Non-resident cars are restricted on Capri for much of the year, so leave the car on the mainland.
Common questions
How long is the ferry from Capri to Naples?
Fast ferries take about 50 minutes from Marina Grande to Molo Beverello. Slower ferries take about 1 hour 20 minutes and arrive at Calata Porta di Massa, a few minutes' walk from Beverello. Both arrive close to the centre of Naples, near Piazza del Municipio, the Castel Nuovo and the metro.
Can I take my car from Naples to Capri?
In practice, no. Non-resident vehicles are restricted on Capri for much of the year and the island's roads are narrow. Leave the car in a garage in Naples and use buses, taxis and the funicular on the island. The slow ferries do carry vehicles, mainly for residents and deliveries.
Do I need to book the Capri ferry ahead?
Outside peak season you can usually buy at the port. In July, August and on summer weekends, popular departures, especially afternoon returns from Capri, can sell out, so booking online a day or two ahead is wise. Check current timetables, as winter schedules are reduced and rough seas can cancel sailings.
Can I do Capri as a day trip from Naples?
Yes, many visitors do. Take an early ferry, visit Capri town and Anacapri by bus or taxi, and perhaps the Blue Grotto if the sea allows, then return in the late afternoon. Allow time for queues at the funicular and the ferry. Staying one night lets you see the island once day visitors leave.
