Tips
- Caticlan airport is a few minutes from the jetty; Kalibo is about 1 h 30 away by van, so choose the flight with that in mind.
- Weather can delay boats and small planes in the typhoon season (roughly June to November).
- Mactan-Cebu airport is on Mactan Island, about 30–60 minutes from Cebu City depending on traffic.
- Check baggage allowances: low-cost fares often exclude checked bags.
Common questions
Are there direct flights from Boracay to Cebu?
Yes, from Caticlan, the airport closest to Boracay, and at times from Kalibo, Philippine airlines fly to Mactan-Cebu in about 1 h. The number of flights changes with the season, so check both airports for your date. You reach Caticlan from Boracay by a short boat to the jetty port, then a few minutes by tricycle or van.
Is there a ferry from Boracay to Cebu?
There is no direct ferry. Overland you can take a bus to Iloilo, a ferry to Bacolod, a bus across Negros and another ferry to Cebu. It takes 12 h or more and is best split over two days. Check current timetables for each ferry, as services can be cancelled in bad weather.
How early should I leave Boracay for my flight?
Allow at least 2 h before departure for Caticlan: the boat, jetty fees, a short transfer and check-in. For Kalibo, add about 1 h 30 for the van. During peak holidays such as Christmas and Holy Week, leave even more time because of queues at the jetty and at the airport.
What is the cheapest way from Boracay to Cebu?
Overland buses and ferries are cheapest in cash, but a promo fare on a flight can cost about the same once you count the extra day and food. Book flights early, travel light to avoid bag fees, and compare departures from Caticlan and Kalibo; Kalibo is sometimes cheaper but farther away.
