How to get from Bodrum to Leros
There is usually no direct ferry from Bodrum to Leros. The standard route is the ferry from Bodrum to Kos (about 30 to 45 minutes), then a Greek ferry or catamaran from Kos to Leros (about 1 h to 2 h). Allow half a day including passport control.
Best option: Ferry. Going by sea via Kos is the only practical way; flights between Turkey and Leros would mean long detours via Athens.

Common questions
Is there a direct ferry from Bodrum to Leros?
Not usually. The regular international crossing from Bodrum goes to Kos, and from Kos you continue to Leros on a Greek domestic ferry or catamaran. Occasional seasonal links to other Dodecanese islands may exist in some years, so check current timetables, but plan on changing in Kos.
How long does Bodrum to Leros take?
The Bodrum–Kos crossing takes about 30 to 45 minutes on a fast boat, and Kos–Leros about 1 h on a catamaran or up to 2 h on a conventional ferry. With passport control and waiting time in Kos, the whole trip usually takes about 3 to 5 hours.
Do I need a passport and visa?
Yes. You leave Turkey at Bodrum and enter Greece and the Schengen area at Kos, with full passport control. Travellers who need a Schengen visa must have one, and the EU Entry/Exit System registration may apply. Arrive at the Bodrum terminal at least an hour before departure.
Can I do this trip in winter?
Yes, but with fewer options. Bodrum–Kos boats run less often outside summer and Kos–Leros services drop to a few a week on some days. You may need to stay overnight in Kos. Check current timetables for both legs before you set out, and allow for cancellations in strong winds.
