Common questions
Is there a direct train from Bergamo to Verona?
Most journeys need a change at Brescia: a regional train from Bergamo to Brescia and then one of the frequent trains on the Milan–Venice line to Verona Porta Nuova. Check the current timetable, as a few direct services may run at certain times, but plan on one change and about 1 h 30–2 h in total.
Can I do it as a day trip?
Yes. With trains roughly every hour and a journey of under two hours, you can leave Bergamo in the morning, see the Arena, Piazza delle Erbe and Castelvecchio, and be back in the evening. Check the last train from Verona, especially on Sundays and holidays when services are thinner.
What is the cheapest way from Bergamo to Verona?
The regional train, at about €10–15 one way with a change in Brescia. Regional fares are fixed and do not rise on the day. Driving costs fuel plus about €10 in motorway tolls, and parking in Verona adds more, so the train usually wins for one or two people.
Do I need to book ahead?
Not for regional trains: fares are fixed and there are no seat reservations. If you choose a high-speed train for the Brescia–Verona leg, booking ahead can be cheaper. In summer, during the Arena opera season, book hotels and parking in Verona well in advance.
