Tips

Common questions

Can I cross the land border from Lebanon to Israel?

No. Lebanon and Israel have no diplomatic relations and the border has no crossing open to travellers. You cannot travel overland between Beirut and Tel Aviv. The only route is by air through a third country, such as Cyprus, Jordan or Turkey, on two separate flights.

Are there flights from Beirut to Tel Aviv?

No direct flights exist. You must connect through another country. Larnaca in Cyprus, Amman in Jordan and Istanbul in Turkey are common choices, but routes and airlines change often, especially when the regional situation is tense. Search for each leg separately and check that both airlines are currently operating the route.

Will an Israeli stamp stop me entering Lebanon?

Lebanon refuses entry to travellers who show signs of having visited Israel, such as stamps, visas or Israeli items. Israel usually issues a separate paper entry slip rather than stamping passports, but border evidence elsewhere can still cause problems. Many travellers visit Lebanon first. Check current rules with official sources before you go.

Is it safe to travel between Beirut and Tel Aviv?

Conditions in the region change quickly. Before booking, read your government's travel advice for Lebanon and Israel, and check that your travel insurance covers both. Flights in and out of both airports can be suspended at short notice, so choose flexible tickets where possible and keep up with the news.
