Tips

Common questions

Is there a train from Antalya to Bodrum?

No. Neither Antalya nor Bodrum is on the Turkish railway network, so the choice is between bus, car and a flight. Coaches are the most practical public transport option, with daytime and overnight departures from Antalya bus station to Bodrum bus station run by large national companies.

How long does the bus take?

Expect about 8 to 10 hours, depending on the route and stops. Buses usually travel inland and make rest stops every few hours. Overnight departures arrive early in the morning. Turkish coaches typically offer assigned seats, drinks service and air conditioning.

Is it better to fly?

Usually not. There are rarely direct flights between Antalya and Milas-Bodrum airport, so you normally change in Istanbul, and with airport transfers the total time is similar to the bus. Flying makes sense only if you find a good fare on a direct seasonal flight.

Can I drive it in one day?

Yes. The inland route is about 6 to 7 hours of driving. The coastal road through Kaş and Fethiye is slower but passes some of the best scenery of the Turquoise Coast, so many people split it with a night in Fethiye. Car rental drop-off fees may apply if you leave the car in Bodrum.
