Why visit Ermioni?

Ermioni is a small, unhurried harbour town on the south-eastern tip of the Argolid peninsula, built on a narrow headland between two bays. It feels like an island town without the ferry crowds, and it is a short boat hop from Hydra and Spetses.

The pine-covered tip of the headland, known as Bisti, is a peaceful park with walking paths, swimming spots off the rocks and remains of ancient Hermione, including the foundations of a temple of Poseidon. Fish tavernas line the harbour, where caiques unload their catch in the morning, and in the evening the waterfront fills with families eating ice cream. Nearby beaches such as Kapari and the long beach at Thermisia are rarely crowded. From Ermioni you can visit Porto Heli, the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, and the Venetian town of Nafplio, and take water taxis or ferries across to the islands. It is an ideal base for a quiet Greek holiday with easy island day trips.
