Why visit Cameron Highlands?

The Cameron Highlands is a hill area at 1,300 to 1,800 metres in Pahang, Malaysia, with cool air, rolling tea plantations, strawberry farms and mossy forests. It was developed by the British as a hill station in the 1930s and is now a favourite escape from the heat of the lowlands.

Visit the BOH tea plantation at Sungai Palas, where a cafe looks out over neat green rows of tea bushes, and the Cameron Valley tea estate beside the road. The Mossy Forest on Gunung Brinchang has a boardwalk through moss-covered trees in the clouds. Tanah Rata is the main town, with guesthouses and restaurants, and Brinchang has a weekend night market. Pick strawberries at a farm, see butterfly and bee farms, and walk the numbered jungle trails to waterfalls and viewpoints. Try a steamboat hotpot, scones with tea and fresh strawberries. The road from Ipoh or Kuala Lumpur winds up through the forest; the drive takes about three to four hours from KL.
