2 days

Focus on the main Chora and nearby spots. You will walk the cobblestone alleys, see the blue-domed churches, swim at Lientou beach, and have a seafood dinner at the harbor. It is a quick, relaxing taste of island life.

You give up: You miss the quieter beaches like Monodendri and boat trips to surrounding uninhabited islets.

3 days

A comfortable pace. Explore Chora, swim at Platys Gialos and Katsadia beaches, and hike to the secluded Chochlakoura. You will have time for wine tasting at the local Lipsi Winery and long evening meals.

You give up: You will miss a dedicated day sailing to the pristine Aspronisia or Tiganakia lagoons.

4 days

The perfect stay. You can leisurely explore every beach on the island, visit the historical Panagia Harou monastery, and take a traditional kaiki boat excursion to the breathtaking, crystal-clear waters of nearby Arki and Marathi islands.

You give up: Virtually nothing on Lipsi itself, though you cannot rush or do extensive island hopping.

If you can stay longer

An extra 2-3 days allows you to completely sink into the slow Aegean rhythm. You can take day trips to the nearby islands of Patmos or Leros, or spend entire uninterrupted days reading under the tamarisk trees at Kamara beach.

When is the best time to visit?

June to September is best for beach weather and active tavernas. July and August are busiest but never overwhelmingly crowded. May and October are peaceful, though ferry schedules are reduced and some tourist businesses may be closed.
