Is Las Vegas expensive? What things really cost in 2026

Short answer

Las Vegas can be cheap or very expensive depending on the dates: midweek rooms can be bargains, but resort fees, shows, dining and drinks on the Strip push a mid-range day to about US$365 per person, before gambling. Weekends, holidays and big conventions raise hotel prices sharply.

Where the money goes

Hotels look cheap until you add the daily resort fee (often US$40–55) and Clark County room tax, which can almost double a low base rate midweek. Shows and dining are the next big items: headline shows and the Sphere cost from about US$100 a ticket, and celebrity-chef restaurants and buffets are priced high. Drinks on the Strip are expensive unless you are gambling. Free attractions are plentiful, though, and transport is cheap if you walk, use the free trams and ride The Deuce.

When it is cheaper

Prices are usually lowest in the hottest summer weeks (July and August) and in early December and January outside big events, with Sunday-to-Thursday nights far cheaper than weekends. Avoid CES in January, big boxing or Formula 1 weekends and New Year's Eve if you are watching costs.
