Is Iguazu Falls expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Iguazú is moderately priced by South American standards, but park fees and tours make it dearer than most of northern Argentina. A budget day is about ARS 110,000 per person and a mid-range day about ARS 240,000. The money goes on park entry for foreigners on both sides, the Gran Aventura boat ride and hotels in Puerto Iguazú.

Where the money goes
Park fees are the core cost: the Argentine park charges foreigners several times the local price (a second consecutive day is usually half price if you get your ticket stamped), and the Brazilian side charges separately in reais. Boat trips, the full-moon walks and helicopter flights on the Brazilian side are optional extras. Hotels in Puerto Iguazú range from simple hostels to jungle lodges; the Gran Meliá inside the Argentine park is the most expensive. Food is reasonable, and inflation moves peso prices quickly, so check current rates.
When it is cheaper
Prices and crowds drop in May–June and August–November outside holiday weeks. The busiest, dearest times are Argentine winter holidays in July, Easter and January–February.
How to spend less
- Ask for the second-day discount on the Argentine park ticket by having it stamped as you leave.
- Take the Río Uruguay public bus to the park instead of a taxi or tour.
- Pay by card in Argentina: foreign cards now get a near-market rate.
- Cross to Brazil by public bus rather than a tour if your nationality does not need a visa.
- Bring your own poncho and snacks; prices inside the parks are high.
- Skip the Gran Aventura if you are on a tight budget; the walkways still put you in the spray.
