I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar) (DPS) to Bali

Almost everyone uses the fixed-price airport taxi counter, a pre-booked private driver or a ride-hailing app. Traffic is the big variable: Ubud can take 1.5 hours or more.

Bali has no single centre. Most visitors head to Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran or Ubud. There is no train, and public buses from the airport are limited.

about 5 km to Kuta, 10–12 km to Seminyak, about 35–40 km to Ubud to the centreTaxi · Ride-hailing · Private transfer

Best for most people: Taxi. The official fixed-price taxi counter is simple and safe, and you know the price before you leave.

Tips

Common questions

How much is a taxi from Bali airport?

The official fixed-price counter charges roughly IDR 150,000–250,000 to Kuta, 250,000–350,000 to Seminyak and 400,000–600,000 to Ubud. Prices depend on zone and car size. You pay at the counter and are walked to the car, which avoids haggling with touts.

Can I use Grab or Gojek from the airport?

Usually yes, from the designated pickup area, and it is often cheaper than the taxi counter. The rules have changed over the years, so follow the airport signs. Outside the airport, some local areas restrict app pickups, so drivers may ask you to walk a little.

How long does it take to get to Ubud?

About 1–2 hours depending on traffic, roughly 35–40 km. Late-night arrivals are quicker. Many travellers stay the first night near the airport or in Seminyak and move to Ubud the next day, especially after a long-haul flight.

Is there a bus from the airport?

There is no train and public bus options from the airport are limited and change often, so they are not practical for most visitors with luggage. Taxis, ride-hailing apps and private transfers are what almost everyone uses.
