Where to stay in Quy Nhon
Quy Nhon curves around a sweeping coastal bay, flanked by mountains to the west and the South China Sea to the east. The city divides cleanly into the bustling downtown beachfront, quieter residential pockets inland, and remote fishing coves further along the southern coastal road. Choosing where to stay comes down to convenience versus seclusion: sleep downtown for seafood markets and urban energy, or head to the southern bays for self-contained beach resorts.

This is the core seafront strip running along Xuan Dieu and An Duong Vuong streets. You can cross the road directly onto the sand or stroll to local seafood stalls serving fresh crab and snails. It feels lively with Vietnamese families exercising at dawn and dining late. Tran Phu square and central cafes are an easy walk away.
Le Hong Phong & City Centre
Set just a few blocks back from the coast, this grid of streets around Le Hong Phong and Tran Hung Dao delivers an authentic provincial town vibe. It is completely walkable to the bustling Cho Lon market and Ngo Van So food street, where banh xeo and local noodles cost pocket change. Expect morning motorbikes rather than crashing waves.
Bai Xep
Located 10 kilometres south of the city along Highway 1D, this small cove is bookended by rocky headlands. Life revolves around the narrow village alleys and traditional round basket boats on the sand. You can walk the entire beach in ten minutes, moving easily between casual guesthouses, small expat-run cafes, and village family homes.
Hai Giang Peninsula & Nhon Hoi
Across the Thi Nai Bridge northeast of the city center, this developing coastal plain features wide, quiet highways and massive private developments like the FLC complex. It feels detached from regular Vietnamese street life, but offers manicured private beaches, golf courses, and easy taxi access to Ky Co Beach and Eo Gio viewpoint.
One thing to think about
Avoid staying north of Thi Nai Bridge in Nhon Hoi if you lack private transport. The area is dominated by sprawling luxury compounds, leaving you stranded from authentic street food and dependent on costly 30-minute taxis to reach town.
Once you have a bed
The things that sell out first in Quy Nhon are the small-group tours and the skip-the-line tickets.

Common questions
Do I need a scooter to get around Quy Nhon?
If staying downtown, walking and cheap metered taxis handle everything easily. However, a scooter is ideal if you want to explore the southern coastal road toward Bai Xep or head north to the coastal cliffs of Eo Gio and Ky Co independently without paying for day tours.
Which area is best for swimming?
The main city beach along Xuan Dieu is clean and calm during the spring and summer months. For clear water with fewer crowds, Bai Xep or the boat-accessed coves at Ky Co offer much better swimming conditions, though surf turns rough everywhere between November and January.
Is Quy Nhon walkable at night?
Downtown Quy Nhon is extremely walkable and safe after dark. Xuan Dieu street and Ngo Van So food street stay well-lit and vibrant with locals eating seafood until late. Bai Xep is also easily traversed on foot, though paths are dimly lit and wrap around village homes.
