Tips

Common questions

How do I get from Pelion to Skopelos?

Travel to Volos port, about thirty minutes to an hour from most Pelion villages by car or KTEL bus, then take a ferry or high-speed boat to Skopelos. The crossing takes about two and a half to four hours, usually with a stop at Skiathos. Check current timetables, as they change by season.

Which port on Skopelos will I arrive at?

Skopelos has two ports used by ferries: Glossa (Loutraki) in the north-west and Skopelos town on the east. Many boats call at both. Choose the port closest to your accommodation; the drive between them takes about forty-five minutes. If you are bringing a car, Glossa is handier for the north and west of the island.

Can I take my car to Skopelos?

Yes, conventional ferries from Volos carry cars. In July and August, book vehicle space ahead. A car is useful on Skopelos for reaching beaches and villages, though buses run along the main road in summer. Check whether your rental contract allows ferry travel.

Is there a flight to Skopelos?

No, Skopelos has no airport. The nearest airport is on Skiathos, a short boat ride away, with flights from Athens and seasonal international flights. From Pelion, the ferry from Volos is the simplest way. Volos also has an airport with some seasonal flights.
