Why visit Kangaroo Island?

Kangaroo Island is a large island off the coast of South Australia, southwest of Adelaide. It is one of Australia's best places to see native wildlife in the wild, with rugged coastline, bush and quiet beaches. Car ferries cross from Cape Jervis on the Fleurieu Peninsula to Penneshaw, and flights arrive from Adelaide.

In Flinders Chase National Park, the Remarkable Rocks are huge granite boulders shaped by wind and sea, sitting on a dome above the ocean. Nearby, Admirals Arch is a natural rock arch where New Zealand fur seals rest on the rocks below. At Seal Bay, guided walks lead along the beach among a colony of Australian sea lions. Little Sahara is a field of large white sand dunes where visitors can try sandboarding. Kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and echidnas can often be seen around the island. Local produce includes honey from the island's Ligurian bees, fresh seafood and wines.
