Why visit Guam?

Guam is a tropical island in the western Pacific and a territory of the United States, the largest and southernmost of the Mariana Islands. It is home to the Chamorro people, whose language, food and traditions are still part of daily life, mixed with influences from more than three centuries of Spanish rule and from modern America and Asia. The result is an easy, friendly island with warm sea all year and plenty for families.

Most visitors stay around Tumon Bay, a calm, sheltered lagoon with a long sandy beach, clear water for snorkelling and many hotels, shops and restaurants. Nearby, Two Lovers Point offers wide views from high cliffs over the ocean. In the capital, Hagåtña, you can walk around the Plaza de España, the cathedral and the Latte Stone Park, where ancient stone pillars show the old Chamorro way of building. The War in the Pacific National Historical Park remembers the battles of the Second World War. Try Chamorro dishes such as red rice and kelaguen, and visit the Chamorro Village market in Hagåtña. In the south, quiet villages, bays and green hills feel far from the resorts. Guam has an international airport with flights from Asia and Hawaii. The best time to visit is the dry season from January to May.
