Why visit Chobe?

Chobe National Park is in northern Botswana, along the Chobe River, which forms the border with Namibia. It is known for one of the largest concentrations of elephants in Africa. The town of Kasane, at the park's northern edge, is the main base for visitors.

The most memorable experience is a boat safari on the Chobe River, where elephants come down to drink and swim, especially in the late afternoon. On the riverbanks you can also see hippos, crocodiles, buffalo and many water birds. Game drives in the riverfront area add chances to see lions, giraffes and antelope. The remote Savuti area, in the drier interior of the park, is known for its predators. Kasane is close to Kazungula, where the borders of Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia meet, so a day trip to Victoria Falls is easy. The best wildlife viewing is in the dry season, when animals gather near the river.
