4 days

The ideal duration. Days one and two cover Karimabad, Baltit and Altit forts, and Attabad Lake. Day three is a dedicated full-day excursion up the Karakoram Highway to Khunjerab Pass to spot ibex and see the border. Day four is for relaxing in Passu or exploring Hopper Glacier.

You give up: You bypass multi-day trekking routes into the high Karakoram wilderness, Shimshal village homestays, and deep cultural immersion in Gojal.

If you can stay longer
