Is Leros expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer

Expect about €69 a day per person on a budget, about €133 mid-range and about €255 for comfort. Rooms, getting around by scooter or car, and fresh fish are the main costs.

Where the money goes
Your room takes the biggest share: Lakki is cheapest at about €45–75 for a double, Alinda and Pandeli cost about €70–140 and boutique stays about €150–280. The next cost is transport, because buses are infrequent and the bays are spread out, so most visitors pay for a scooter, a small car or taxis at €10–20 a ride. Sightseeing is cheap — the castle, the War Museum and the Bellenis Tower cost only a few euros each. Fish sold by the kilo is the one food item that can raise the bill quickly. Getting there, by an overnight ferry from Piraeus or a short flight from Athens, is an extra cost to plan for.
When it is cheaper
May, June and late September are usually cheaper than late July and August, when Greek families arrive and rooms around 15 August are the most expensive of the year. From November to April many places close.
How to spend less
- Stay in Lakki or Alinda for the lowest room prices and easy ferry or beach access.
- Rent a scooter for the days you explore the bays, and walk or take taxis on the others.
- Have an ouzo with meze in Agia Marina instead of a full dinner one night.
- Ask the price per kilo before choosing fish in Pandeli.
- Compare the overnight Piraeus ferry with the flight; a deck or seat ticket also saves a night's room.
- Visit in June or September for lower prices and calm, warm sea.
