Other trails lead along the coast and through old farming land. Under water, the Saba Marine Park protects the reefs around the island, and divers come for volcanic pinnacles, sea turtles, reef sharks and colourful coral. The village of Windwardside has small shops, cafés and guesthouses, and The Bottom is the quiet capital. Getting there is part of the adventure: small planes land on a famously short runway, and there are also ferries from Sint Maarten. The best time to visit is December to April for the driest weather, though diving is good all year.
