Why visit Lake Louise?

Lake Louise is a glacier-fed lake and small village in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, famous for its bright turquoise water beneath the Victoria Glacier. It is one of the most photographed places in Canada and part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Walk the lakeshore trail, rent a canoe in summer, or hike up to the Lake Agnes Tea House and the Plain of Six Glaciers Tea House for views over the lake. Nearby Moraine Lake, in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, has equally striking blue water; access is by shuttle bus in season, as private cars are no longer allowed on the road. The Lake Louise Ski Resort is one of the largest in Canada, and the lake freezes into a skating rink in winter. The Icefields Parkway begins here and runs north to Jasper past glaciers and lakes. Book parking or shuttles in advance in summer, when the area is very busy.
