Why visit Anguilla?

Anguilla is a small, flat island in the eastern Caribbean and a British Overseas Territory. It has no big cruise port and no high-rise hotels, so it feels calm and unhurried, yet it is known for some of the finest beaches in the region and for an excellent food scene, from simple beach barbecues to elegant restaurants. It is a favourite place for couples and honeymooners who want soft sand, clear water and quiet days.

Shoal Bay is a long stretch of powdery white sand with turquoise water and good snorkelling close to shore. On the west side, Meads Bay is a wide, calm beach lined with resorts and restaurants, perfect for sunset. Rendezvous Bay faces the hills of St Martin across the water, and in Sandy Ground you will find a lively harbour with beach bars and live music. Boat trips go to small offshore cays for swimming and snorkelling, and the island's quiet roads make it easy to explore by rented car. Many visitors fly into St Martin and take the short ferry to Blowing Point in Anguilla, while others arrive on small planes at the island's own airport. The best time to visit is December to April, when the weather is dry and sunny and outside the hurricane season.
